T20 WC: Coach’s statement on Iyer’s mental condition after not getting a place in the team

After the announcement of Team India for the World Cup, while on one hand the fortunes of many players have brightened, on the other hand many players have felt disappointed. Players like KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Rinku Singh could not make it to the World Cup team this time. Shreyas Iyer was a part of the team in the ODI World Cup 2023, while now Iyer is captaining KKR in IPL 2024. However, IPL 2024 has been nothing special for Iyer so far. Due to which he was not selected in Team India for T20 World Cup 2024. Now the coach has given a big statement regarding Iyer’s mental condition.

How is Shreyas Iyer’s mental balance?

All eyes were on Team India’s team for the T20 World Cup 2024. Fans wanted to see which players would get a chance in the team this time. When the team was announced, the names of many players were not there and the fans were expecting their names. Of which KKR captain Shreyas Iyer is also one. Now KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nair said that Shreyas Iyer is mentally very strong, he has not been selected in the team for the T20 World Cup but he has taken it positively. He knows that now he will have to perform better to make a comeback. His focus is only on scoring runs, no matter what the tournament.

Iyer’s performance in IPL 2024

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer may not have batted well this season, but his team is in great form. KKR has played 9 matches so far, out of which the team has won 6 matches. At present, KKR is at second position in the points table and is rapidly moving towards the playoffs. Whereas team captain Shreyas Iyer has scored 251 runs at a strike rate of 137 in the 9 matches played so far. This season, only one half-century has come from Iyer’s bat.
