IPL 2024: BCCI bans KKR player for one match
Harshit Rana: IPL 2024 playoff contenders Kolkata Knight Riders got a bad news after their win against Delhi Capitals. The team’s fast bowler Harshit Rana has been suspended for one match for violating the IPL code of conduct in the team’s seven-wicket win over Delhi. The match referee has fined him 100 percent of the match fee.
Rana was fined 60 percent of his fee for kissing Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Mayank Agarwal in the air in the last match. When Abhishek Porel’s wicket fell against Delhi, he almost did the same again. He waved towards Porel and signaled to surround the pavilion and missed the flying kiss gesture. Harshit Rana was involved in the no ball controversy involving former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli. There was a lot of controversy after his ball was given out by the third umpire.
“Rana has committed a level one offense under Section 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct and has accepted his punishment,” the IPL said in a statement. The match referee’s decision for a level one offense is final and binding. Now he will not be able to play KKR’s next match against Mumbai Indians.
Kolkata Knight Riders scored 12 runs against Delhi. After this victory, its path to the playoffs has become easier. At present the team is at second position in the points table after winning 6 out of 9 matches. They still have 5 games left and with two wins they will make it to the playoffs.
