IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya made a mistake in the match against Lucknow, BCCI imposed a fine of lakhs
The 48th match of IPL 2024 was played yesterday between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians. Lucknow has won this match by 4 wickets. With the defeat in this match, Mumbai Indians’ playoff hopes have been dashed. After losing the match, BCCI has punished team captain Hardik Pandya and now Pandya has to face a ban of one match.
After removing Rohit Sharma, the franchise made Hardik its new captain and since then the ruckus has started. Now with the arrival of the new captain, the onfield and offfield condition of the Mumbai team has worsened. Currently, the team is at 9th place in the points table with 7 losses in 10 matches.
BCCI fined Hardik
Batting first in this match, Mumbai Indians team could score only 144 runs by losing 7 wickets in 20 overs, which Lucknow achieved this target by losing 6 wickets in 19.2 overs. In this match, the Mumbai Indians captain and the entire team proved guilty of slow over rate. BCCI has imposed a fine of Rs 24 lakh on team captain Hardik Pandya for such a lapse for the second time.
Not only Hardik Pandya but the entire team has been punished for slow over rate against Lucknow Super Giants. Apart from Hardik, the rest of the players of the team have been fined 25 percent of the match fee.
Earlier, once again the Mumbai team was found guilty of slow over rate. This is the second time that Hardik has been fined. If Mumbai is found guilty for the third time, captain Hardik Pandya may be banned for one match.
BCCI said in its statement that Pandya has been fined Rs 24 lakh as this is his team’s second offense this season under the IPL code of conduct related to slow over rate.
