Both Singapore and Hong Kong had refused to buy MDH’s goods due to the presence of carcinogenic pesticides in MDH spices.

What is salmonella?

If any food contains Salmonella bacteria and is consumed, it can cause serious illness. Intestinal diseases can also occur if food is not cooked properly. Salmonella can mainly cause typhoid. Salmonella virus is found in eggs, beef, raw chicken and fruits and vegetables. A food safety expert said that if you don’t take care from preparation to packaging, salmonella virus can grow. The FDA inspected MDH’s products and factory in January 2022. At this time, it was found that there were no sanitary facilities at that place.

 

 

In the current US fiscal year (October 2023 to September 2024), the US rejected 0.3 percent of all Everest export shipments. In the last financial year, this rate was 3 percent. A total of 5 shipments have been rejected by the US since October 2023.

 

What happens to rejected products?

According to FDA guidelines, if a consignment is rejected, the importer may destroy the consignment. The FDA does not keep track of what happens to rejected goods.
