CSK vs LSG: Why did Chennai lose to Lucknow by 210 runs? Captain Gaikwad replied
Chennai: The journey of Chennai Super Kings team in IPL 2024 has been full of ups and downs. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s team, which started the league with two consecutive wins, has won only 4 out of 8 matches. Chennai has lost its second consecutive match against Lucknow Super Giants. Playing on home ground, Chennai team could not even defend the score of 210. This is Chennai’s first defeat at Chepauk Stadium in this IPL season.
Gaikwad blamed fog
According to Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, the reason for his team’s defeat was fog. He said after the match – Defeat is difficult to digest, but it was a good match. In the end Lucknow performed very well. We were in control of the match till 13-14 overs, but Stoinis batted brilliantly. Effect of fog, too much fog weakened our spinners. Otherwise we were able to control the match well and take it forward. But this is part of the game, it cannot be controlled.
Why did Jadeja come at number four?
On the question of playing Ravindra Jadeja at number four, the CSK captain said – Jadeja is batting at number 4 because we have lost another wicket in the powerplay. Our strategy is clear that if any wicket falls after the powerplay, Shivam will come to bat. We cannot force the batsmen to get out later. To be honest, I think our target was low. But we appreciate the way Lucknow batted.
