Smuggling of noodles, undergarments packets and gold worth Rs 6.46 crore at Mumbai Airport
Mumbai: Amidst a crackdown on smugglers’ modus operandi for smuggling gold and diamonds, the Customs department at Mumbai airport seized diamonds hidden in packets of noodles and cash from the luggage of body parts of tourists. Four tourists were caught with gold and diamonds worth Rs 6.46 crore and further investigation has been conducted.
The customs official said four tourists were arrested with over 6.815 kg of gold worth Rs 4.44 crore and diamonds worth Rs 2.02 crore.
An Indian citizen going from Mumbai to Bangkok was detained at the airport. During inspection of the trolley bag, diamonds were found in the noodles packet. The tourist was arrested.
Apart from this, when a foreign tourist coming from Colombo to Mumbai was caught on suspicion and interrogated, gold rods and gold pieces hidden in his undergarments were recovered from him. The officer did not say so.
Apart from this, 10 Indian citizens who reached Mumbai Airport by air from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Riyadh, Muscat, Riyadh, Muscat, Singapore were examined. Meanwhile, three passengers were caught smuggling 6.815 kg of gold. He hid gold and bug in his anus, all three arrested
