IPL 2024: RCB captain Faf du Plessis fined due to slow over rate

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis has been fined for slow over-rate during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Sunday.

An official statement issued by the Indian Premier League (IPL) late on Sunday night read, “RCB captain Faf du Plessis will be named in the 36th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against KKR on April 21, 2024 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The penalty has been imposed after maintaining a slow over rate during the match. “Since this was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL code of conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Du Plessis was fined Rs 12 lakh.”

Talking about the match, KKR defeated RCB by 1 run in this very exciting match. Batting first, KKR scored 6 runs in 20 overs thanks to a half-century by captain Shreyas Iyer (50 runs) and quick innings by Phil Salt (48), Rinku Singh (24), Andre Russell (27 not out) and Ramandeep Singh (24 not out). Scored 222 runs on the wicket.

In reply, despite half-centuries by Will Jacques (55) and Rajat Patidar (52) and finally a quick inning by Karan Sharma (7 balls, 20 runs), RCB could score only 221 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 1 run. .
