These players who hit fours and sixes once went on leave due to mental stress
IPL 2024: After consecutive flops in IPL 2024, RCB star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has suddenly decided to take an indefinite break from the league. Maxwell cited his poor batting form for this decision. This is not the first time that a cricketer has done this due to mental fatigue. Many big cricketers from Virat Kohli to Ishan Kishan have done this. Let us know about those cricketers…
Maxwell took a break-
RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has decided to take an indefinite ‘mental and physical’ break from the IPL due to his poor batting form. Maxwell was not included in the playing eleven in RCB’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday. Maxwell admitted to ruling himself out of the team as he is said to have injured his finger during the last match against Mumbai Indians. This is not the first time that Maxwell has taken a break from cricket due to mental health challenges. He did the same in October 2019 also.
Ishan Kishan-
Indian wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan had also decided to take a break from cricket some time ago. Ishan Kishan, a regular member of the Indian team in white-ball cricket, decided to take a break last year and returned to India in the middle of the South Africa tour. However, he has been out of the Indian team since then.
Virat Kohli-
Virat Kohli has taken a month’s rest before the 2022 Asia Cup. India’s star batsman talked about his mental health challenge after returning from a month-long break ahead of the 2022 Asia Cup. In an interview, Kohli said that despite being mentally weak and needing a break, he is working hard. A month’s rest helped him feel refreshed.
Ben Stokes-
Ben Stokes, one of the best all-rounders and captain of the England Test team, has decided to take an indefinite break from cricket in July 2021 to maintain his mental health. Stokes later revealed that he had suffered panic attacks in the past. He managed to make a successful comeback into the team six months after deciding to retire from cricket. Even after returning, he is taking anti-anxiety medication.
Jonathan Trott-
Jonathan Trott, who was a key player in the England cricket team lineup for most of his career, also struggled with mental health issues at one time. Due to severe strain, Trott decided to withdraw from the 2013 Ashes series after playing just one Test. After this he stopped playing cricket completely for 16 months. In 2015, he tried to return to the cricket field, but could not do so due to stress and ultimately had to retire.
