World News: Care for nature in Congo, 15 killed, 60 missing in landslide
The havoc of nature has been seen in Congo. The situation has worsened after heavy rains in south-western Congo. At least 15 people have died and around 60 people are reported missing in landslides caused by rain. Local officials informed about this. Seven people have been found alive after a landslide near the port near the town of Idiofa, local officials said. “There is a hill in front of the port and due to the rain, the soil on the hill slipped, causing a major disaster,” said local official Dhedhe Mupasa.
Search for missing people continues
The province’s interim governor, Fleisin Kiwe, told reporters that a team sent to search for the missing found seven people alive and admitted them to hospital. He said that 60 people are still missing. A local official said it was difficult to estimate the exact number of missing people as a market was held at the place every Saturday. The official said that this area is like a port, where fishermen come to sell fish.
devastation was seen first
Even before this, rain and landslides have been seen in Congo. Last year too, heavy rains in the month of December wreaked havoc in Congo. 14 people have died in a landslide that occurred after torrential rains in Bukavu town here. In early December, torrential rains in northwestern Congo triggered landslides in September, killing at least 17 people.
