Important news for those who want to call family members to Britain, government increased the salary limit
The minimum income threshold for British citizens and residents who want to invite their relatives to Britain on a family visa has been raised by 55 per cent from Thursday. People of Indian origin are also included in these. The government had announced such a scheme last year. In this case it has now been decided that if someone is preparing to bring someone to the UK on a family visa, the minimum annual income must now be £29,000. Earlier this limit was 18,600 pounds.
In this regard, officials said that by the beginning of next year this salary limit will be increased to 38,700 pounds. Britain’s Home Office said it was a last-ditch effort under a package brought by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Home Secretary James Cleverley to reduce legal migration and ensure taxpayers are not burdened by people coming from abroad.
Britain’s Home Secretary James Cleverly says that a large number of people are coming into the country from outside. So we have ensured that British workers and their wages are protected. He said that it was necessary to take this step so that the burden on taxpayers who bring their families to Britain does not increase. He also said that the government has worked to create an immigration system and the public will trust it.
Regarding this, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that when this new rule was first introduced in the House of Commons in December 2023, the opposition had criticized it. So, instead of an immediate increase to £38,700 as before, the government opted to raise the salary cap. He said that we are increasing the salary limit and it will be done in two phases.
