Parents killed and buried one and a half year old daughter: Pot burst due to letter
Mumbai: In a shocking incident in Mumbra in Thane district, a couple killed their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter and buried her body in a local graveyard here. However, about a month after the murder, the Mumbra police received an anonymous letter about the incident. On the basis of the letter found along with the photo of the girl, the police investigated and interrogated the couple and registered a case against them and arrested them.
Police recovered the girl’s body from a local graveyard in Mumbra and sent it for post-mortem, in which injury marks were found at several places on the girl’s body. Following the incident, the police arrested the girl’s parents on charges of murder and destruction of evidence and conducted further investigation, although the couple did not provide any explanation as to why they killed the girl. However, the police suspect that the couple committed this act out of superstition.
Anil Shinde, senior police officer of Mumbra police station, said that he had received a letter a few days ago in which a photograph of a one-and-a-half-year-old girl was sent, stating that her parents had murdered her. His body was buried in a graveyard in Mumbra. The name of this girl is Labiba.
Shocked to find this name card, the police immediately took the matter seriously and investigated further and after much effort they came to know that Labiba Dahid Shaikh (one and a half years) was buried in Naya Kabristan, Mumbra on 18th March 2024. The police reached there after taking the address of Labiba’s house and took her father Zahid Sheikh and mother Noorani Sheikh into custody and interrogated them further. Along with this, the body of the girl was handed over to J.J. Took out from the grave. It was sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
After finding several discrepancies in the post-mortem report and the statements of Labiba’s parents, the police concluded that the girl was murdered by her parents Zahid and Noorani.
The police registered a case under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing destruction of evidence) and presented both of them in the court and they were sent to police custody till April 15. The police have full suspicion that the couple had murdered the girl under the influence of superstition. But the couple has not given any reason for the murder.
