Digi Yatra at Airports: Digi Yatra is likely to be launched at 14 more airports by the end of this month. Giving this information, a top official said that efforts are being made to make this facility more user friendly with some changes in the structure. Based on facial recognition technology (FRT), Digi Yatra provides contactless, seamless movement of passengers across various checkpoints at airports and currently, it has around 50 lakh users. This facility is now available at 14 airports for domestic passengers and discussions are underway with various relevant stakeholders to make it available for international passengers as well.
Digi Yatra Foundation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Suresh Khadakbhavi said Digi Yatra is expected to be available at 14 more airports by the end of April. The foundation, a non-profit organization, is the nodal agency for Digi Yatra, which was launched in December, 2022.

The 14 new airports where this facility is to be launched soon include Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dabolim, Indore, Mangalore, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam. While Digi Yatra is slowly gaining momentum, concerns have been raised in various circles about the privacy of passengers’ details. Trying to allay the concerns, Khadakbhavi said that Digi Yatra does not have data or details of any passenger.
Advice on uninstalling old apps
Digi Yatra is a platform with the help of which you can take entry directly with just one scan without standing in the queue. But Digi Yatra has introduced a new update for its users, in which it has appealed to the users to uninstall the old app and shift to the new app. Digi Yatra further said that we understand your concern, and are working to ease the transition from the old app to the new app.

How to register on Digi Yatra?
Digi Yatra service is a facial recognition system. With the help of which your entry inside the airport will become paperless and very easy. To register yourself in Digi Yatra, you will need your name, mobile number, email ID and identity proof like Aadhaar. After installing the app from the App Store, it can be registered through mobile number and OTP. Along with this, you will also have to upload a selfie on the app, after which your Digi Yatra profile will be complete.

Why did the new update of Digi Yatra come?
Digi Yatra said that this new upgrade has been brought to improve the user experience. Digi Yatra saves users from long boarding queues at the airport. Digi Yatra said that users’ data remains safe on the app. Digi Yatra does not store personal identification credentials/data of users in any central repository. The credentials remain stored securely on their smartphones and Digi Yatra has no access to this data. Also, it is not shared with any third party.

Khadakbhavi said work is being done to ensure a more user-friendly experience for Digi Yatra users and is focused on changes in the overall structure or format.
