Durg bus accident: Bus carrying laborers fell into ditch, 13 people dead so far; Many injured
Durg: At least 13 people died and more than a dozen were injured after they fell into the pit of ‘Muram’ clay mine in Durg district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday night. All were employees of a private company. Police gave this information. Durg SP Jatinder Shukla said that the accident happened at around 8.30 pm near village Khapri of Kumhari police station area, when the employees of a distillery company were returning home after work.
He said that according to initial information, the bus carrying more than 30 people slipped off the road and fell into the 40 feet deep ‘Muram’ ditch.
He told that initially there was news of 11 people being killed in this accident. Four other people later died in hospital.
The officer said that the injured people have been admitted to the nearest hospital.
Visuals from the spot show that the bus has overturned after falling down and a rescue operation is underway to rescue the stranded passengers.
Expressing grief over the accident, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said that adequate arrangements have been made for the treatment of the injured.
Sai said, 11 employees of a private company have died in the bus accident.
