IPL 2024: Age is just a number: MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane grab stunners vs GT
Veteran players of Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane set the standards in the field in the game against Gujarat Titans.
Playing at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai the duo grabbed two sensational catches. While Dhoni to his right to remove Vijay Shankar, Ajinkya Rahane grabbed a sensational chance in the deep to catch a shot from David Miller.
The duo – Dhoni and Rahane are 42 and 35 respectively. While Dhoni has retired from international cricket in 2020, Rahane is in his last yards. Both catches were met with thunderous roars at Chepauk as Chennai dominated their match against Shubman Gill’s team.
Having scored 206 runs in the first innings, Chennai piled on pressure against Gujarat Titans in the second innings. None of the GT batters got going and were reduced to 96/4 in the 12th over of the game at the time of Miller’s dismissal. The batters were not able to cope with the Chennai bowlers, who planned well to dismiss the GT side on Tuesday, 26 March.
Fans on social media were amazed by the ability of the duo in the field despite their age and showered their love on both players. The official account of the Indian Premier League also gave a shoutout to both players on their social media.
Earlier in the first innings Rachin Ravindra continued his stunning form in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday, 26 March. Playing against Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Rachin got Chennai Super Kings off to flier scoring 46 runs off 20 balls. Rachin punished the GT pace attack comprising Azmatullah Omarzai and Umesh Yadav to rise in stature in front of the dedicated Chennai crowd.
The young New Zealand left-hander opened the batting alongside captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. The batter was drafted in for just Rs 1.8 crores by CSK in the IPL 2024 auction after playing out a sensational ODI World Cup 2023. Rachin repaid CSK’s faith with blazing starts in both matches in what promises to be an incredible season for him in the Indian Premier League.
