Intel on Wednesday announced two new initiatives as part of the AI PC Acceleration Program to boost the development and deployment of new AI technologies by software developers, independent software vendors (ISVs), and independent hardware vendors (IHV) . According to Intel, this initiative will help the company optimise and maximise AI features on more than 100 million Intel Core Ultra-powered PCs through 2025.

Under this program, Intel aims to facilitate a seamless developer experience through software, developer tools, and hardware equipped with the Intel Core Ultra processors. Intel has partnered with over 150 hardware vendors around the world and has plans to bring over 300 AI-accelerated features in 2024 on over 230 designs from 12 global original equipment manufacturers.

Intel launched its Core Ultra processors with a built-in AI accelerator (NPU) last year. This NPU can natively handle sustained AI workloads while consuming low power, enhancing power efficiency and improving battery life on notebooks. Similarly, the GPU (Intel Arc) can take care of data-intensive AI computations, while the CPU can handle sequential data, complex branching, or low-latency inference.

Interested developers can sign up for the AI PC Acceleration Program for free via the Intel AI PC development portal. Once accepted, developers will gain access to AI and machine learning tools and resources, including the Intel OpenVINO toolkit for free. Additionally, Intel offers courses and certifications to understand the latest technologies and innovations. The company will also provide technical support and help hardware vendors optimise and test their latest technologies.

Intel has already partnered with major brands like Adobe, Blackmagic Design, and several major game developers to update and optimise their services to take full advantage of the latest Intel Core Ultra processor-powered PCs.
