CBSE Class 12 Accounts board exam paper was easy barring a few tricky MCQs

The CBSE board exam 2024 began for both Classes 10 and 12 on February 15 and the Class 12 Accounts paper was held on March 23. Students said that the Accounts paper was quite easy barring a few MCQs.

They also noted that it was easier than this year’s CBSE Accounts sample paper and last year’s question paper.

The Accountancy exam was for 80 marks, to be attempted within 3 hours. The paper had a total of 34 questions which were divided into 2 sections, A and B. While Part A was compulsory, Part B had two sub-section to choose from: Section A: Accounting for Partnership and Companies (60 marks) and Section B: Analysis of Financial Statements (20 marks).

WHAT TEACHERS HAD TO SAY

“Most of the students found the paper manageable and within expectations. The overall paper was balanced, covering various topics comprehensively,” says Deepa Upadhayaya, HOD Commerce, Bhai Parmanand Vidya Mandir, Delhi.

“The Accountancy exam was for 80 marks, to be attempted within 3 hours. The paper had a total of 34 questions which “Most of the students found multiple choice questions direct and straight in Sectin A. The 3-4 marker questions of the partnership chapter required conceptual clarity,” she says.

“A few adjustments in 6 marker questions from Accounting for Partnership Firms and Share capital were challenging,” she adds.

“In Section B, an adjustment of chapter cash flow statement was tricky and required in-depth knowledge of the concept,” she says.

“The paper was of moderate difficulty,” says Narsingh Raghav, KIIT World School, Sohna Road, Gurugram.

“Students were able to attempt most of the questions that required direct application of theories. Some questions were a little challenging and required conceptual understanding, which could only be successfully answered by high achievers after deep analysis and interpretation,” he says.

“Overall students found today’s Accountancy paper to be easy. Some students found the paper to be quite lengthy because of calculations,” he adds.

“However, overall, the paper was well balanced, within the capabilities of all the students,” he adds.

“The Accountancy paper was well-crafted and effectively gauged students’ competency levels,” says Lalit Kumar Sharma, HOD – Commerce, VidyaGyan School.

“The overall difficulty ranged from easy to moderate, aligning with the prescribed syllabus. However, certain MCQs posed challenges for students, like Assertion-Reasoning questions, and some questions from partnershi,” he says.

He adds that the majority of questions in the paper were within the grasp of the students, reflecting a balanced approach in difficulty.

“The paper was fully in sync with the suggested blueprint by CBSE with no surprises. The overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate,” the teacher says.

“Brighter students were confident to score very good Marks and average students will also score good marks.

Overall, the paper was aptly designed to assess the competency level of students. It effectively tested the understanding and application of concepts,” he adds.

CBSE CLASS 12 ACCOUNTANCY PAPER PATTERN

The Accountancy examination was for 80 marks, to be attempted within 3 hours.

The paper had a total of 34 questions which were divided into two sections, i.e. Part A and Part B.

Part A: Accounting for Partnership Firms and Companies
Part B had two options, i.e. (i) Analysis of Financial Statements and (ii) Computerized Accounting.

While Part A was compulsory, Part B had two-sub sections, to choose from.

Thus, the CBSE Class 12 Accounts paper this year was quite easy and not lengthy. Students found it easy to complete the paper within the time limit.
