IPL 2024: Adam Zampa Withdraws From The Tournament – Reports
Right before the IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals have been dealt a huge blow as Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa has withdrawn from the tournament due to personal reasons according to a report on Thursday.
He was retained by the RR franchise for this year’s IPL.
Zampa was one of the three spinners included in the squad. The other two spinners in the squad are R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. It is a massive blow for Rajasthan Royals for this year’s IPL as they could not qualify for the playoff stage last year finishing 5th.
Zampa was taken for 1.5 Crore by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023. He bowled with great control picking up 8 wickets from his 6 matches in the entire tournament. During his decent run in IPL 2023, Zampa grabbed best figures of 3 for 22 against Chennai Super Kings at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals have already been dealt a major blow as Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the entire season due to an injury.
“We’re without Prasidh Krishna again this season and that’s tough as a franchise, when you’ve bet 7-8% of your entire player spend on a particular player and then that player is unavailable for the whole tournament, that hurts you. The medical side is an area where we’re trying to work much harder.”

Rajasthan Royals looked impressive in the initial stages but could not keep the momentum going as they could not finish during the top 4 positions. Zampa played for Australia in limited-overs series against the West Indies. He wanted to take a break from the game and be fresh for the upcoming T20 World Cup that is slated to be played in the USA and West Indies in June.
He has been playing non-stop cricket including BBL 13, white ball series against India, and white ball series against West Indies, and New Zealand since last year’s victorious WC.

Zampa was at his prime best in the 2016 edition of IPL with 12 wickets from 5 matches including best figures of 6 for 19 at an economy of 6.76 runs per over. He then took 7 wickets from 6 matches in the 2017 edition with figures of 2 for 22.
He then was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in 2020. He featured in only 3 matches with 2 wickets.
