During an interview, Sooraj Barjatya shared an anecdote from the shooting of the film and told that Saif had to take medicine from Amrita in those days.
Saif Ali Khan used to stay awake the whole night
The director recently revealed that he was shooting the song ‘Sunoji Dulhan’ from the film. At that time Saif Ali Khan had to do many retakes. Then the director was thinking that Saif is a natural actor and this is a comedy so he should do it in one go. Sooraj then talked to Saif’s first wife Amrita on this matter. Amrita told him that Saif used to stay awake the whole night and think about how he would play his character and his lines.
I had to take a sleeping pill before the shoot
After hearing this, Sooraj asked Amrita to give him some medicine and put him to sleep. After which one day he secretly gave sleeping pills to Saif and he fell asleep. The next day when he came on the set, the shot was okayed in one take. Saif was surprised to see this and said how did it happen in one take. Sooraj told him that you are a natural actor, if you sleep properly then this will happen.
Saif used to feel pressure in front of big stars
Sooraj Barjatya also told in the same interview that Saif Ali Khan used to be nervous in those days and it was such a big role for the first time and that too in front of big actors. So he was under a lot of pressure and worked very hard. He used to memorize dialogues again and again. However, Saif’s work in this film was well-liked. The film did a business of 80 crores 25 years ago.
